    OIC strebt einheitlichen Standard an
    Auf ein Halal-Logo auf einem Produkt vertrauen? Nicht immer möglich, weil die Standards weltweit unterschiedlich gehandhabt werden. Doch das will die Organisation der Islamischen Zusammenarbeit (OIC) jetzt ändern – mit einem einheitlichen weltweiten Standard.

    Immer mehr muslimische Verbraucher in Deutschland achten darauf, dass die Produkte, die sie verwenden, halal sind. „Halal", also islamisch erlaubt, sind solche Produkte, die entsprechend der Vorgaben des islamischen Glaubens produziert werden. Das bedeutet unter anderem, dass in den Produkten kein Alkohol und kein Schweinefleisch enthalten sind oder dass Fleisch von erlaubten Tieren stammt, die nach islamischem Ritus geschächtet wurden.

    Doch mit „halal" werden auch Produkte speziell für Muslime gekennzeichnet. Es dient als verkaufsförderndes Argument, um muslimische Kunden zum Kaufen zu animieren. Oftmals stecken hinter solchen Kennzeichnungen auf Produkten mit einem halal-Logo kommerzielle Firmen oder muslimische Organisationen, die ein sogenanntes Halal-Zertifikat ausgeben. Einige muslimische Staaten vergeben mittlerweile selbst Zertifikate nach Prüfung der Produkte. Doch einen einheitlichen weltweiten Halal-Standard gibt es nicht, was auch zu Irritationen bei Muslimen führt. Denn jedes Institut erstellt seine Regeln nach eigenen Vorstellungen und Auffassungen.

    Einheitlicher Standard angestrebt
    Als größte muslimische Organisation, in der 57 Länder mit mehrheitlich muslimischer Bevölkerung vertreten sind, will die Organisation für Islamische Zusammenarbeit (OIC) diesen Zustand ändern. Sie will einen weltweiten einheitlichen Halal-Standard etablieren. Dies kündigte der Generalsekretär der Organisation, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoğlu, bei einem Vortrag im Rahmen des „Congress on Halal Food in the Middle East" in Sharjah (Vereinigte Arabische Emirate) an.

    Die OIC will laut Ihsanoğlu die Angleichung der weltweiten Halal-Standards, Akkreditierungen und Zertifizierungen erreichen. Ziel der OIC sei es einen einheitlichen Halal-Standard für Lebensmittel zu entwickeln, der auch in den Mitgliedsstaaten der OIC umgesetzt wird. Bisher hatte die OIC solche Bestrebungen vor allem für Muslime betrieben, die in der Diaspora leben oder in einem Land, wo sie eine Minderheit in der Bevölkerung darstellen.

    Halal-Markt stark gewachsen
    Der Bedarf nach einheitlichen Regeln ist aber auch vorhanden. Denn Ihsanoğlu machte darauf aufmerksam, dass der globale Markt für Halal-Produkte über die letzten Jahre stark angewachsen ist. Mittlerweile wird dieser Markt mit knapp 2 Milliarden € beziffert. 67 % dieses Marktes macht laut Ihsanoğlu allein der Lebensmittelsektor aus. Dazu kommen noch, als große Posten, Produkte aus dem medizinischen Bereich mit einem Anteil von 22 %. Darin sind auch kosmetische Produkte enthalten.
